About Amber
I have worked in education for the last 3 years. I am a Learning Mentor, so my primary role is to run 1:1 sessions and small groups to help students get through their examinations. I have gained a lot of experience in teaching GCSE Maths and English, and Functional Skills. I also have a large background in behaviour management, emotional development and a strong passion for teaching.
I firmly believe that academic success comes down to working in warm, positive and safe environments that allow students to freely grow and converse as they please. We are human, and although I like to push people to strive to do their best, I also allow for error, breaks and honesty.
Over the last 6 months, I have been helping students pass their exams through the covid-19 pandemic and have a 75% pass rate.

My teaching method is based on a student-led approach. You tell me what you need help with and we go from there. I use a wide range of online and in-person interactive resources and always ensure to track progress through student feedback, milestone assessments and noting down grades. The lessons are not massively structured to allow for variation and change if the student gets overwhelmed or would like to return to a particular topic at a later date.
