My approach to teaching beginner piano is to use repetition and positive feedback to (1) introduce the student to the features and benefits of the instrument, (2) show the student how 'numbering' with fingers and notes on the keyboard is a quick start to learning any kind of music on piano, and (3) assign homework lessons in music theory AND practice to assure proper attention and success according to the student's mental readiness and interests.
