About Moira
I am an experienced Guzheng teacher with over 20 years of playing experience and hold the Grade 10 (Performance Level) qualification from the Central Conservatory of Music in China. I was also awarded an Award of Merit in a public Guzheng competition.
I have years of teaching experience. Formerly a member of a Guzheng ensemble, I have abundant experience performing in Cultural Centre and civic centres in Hong Kong.
The Guzheng is a traditional Chinese zither (a plucked string instrument). Its sound is gentle, expressive and incredibly relaxing. I enjoy sharing its unique sound and helping students discover something new and culturally rich.
Teaching also allows me to pass on the knowledge and skills I have developed over many years of learning and performing. It is always rewarding to see students gradually build confidence and enjoy making music on this wonderful instrument.

My lessons are patient, structured and beginner-friendly, with a strong focus on building solid fundamental skills, including proper technique and musical expression.
I believe learning an instrument should be both enjoyable and rewarding. My teaching focuses on building strong foundations first, including correct posture, hand technique and tone production.
Every student learns differently, so I adopt a flexible teaching approach to suit each student’s learning pace, interests and goals. Whether you are a complete beginner or have some musical background, lessons will be tailored to help you progress with confidence.
Beginners are very welcome, and no previous music experience is required.
Location: Salford in Manchester, UK
Format: In-person lessons or online via Zoom
Languages: English, Cantonese or Mandarin
For: Beginner to Grade 8, Aged 6 or above
Typical length of lesson: 45 - 60 minutes
