About Tawanda
Dance Professor & Choreographer | Contemporary, Improvisation & Creative Movement
University professor helping students develop technique, creativity, confidence, and a deeper connection to movement.
Dance is more than learning steps—it's a way of expressing yourself, developing confidence, and discovering new possibilities through movement.
I am a Zimbabwean-born interdisciplinary artist, choreographer, and university professor with over a decade of teaching experience in dance and movement education. My work brings together contemporary dance, African and African Diasporic movement practices, improvisation, physical theater, somatic awareness, and creative exploration.
Whether you are a complete beginner, an experienced dancer looking to refine your technique, a performer preparing for auditions, or an artist seeking to expand your creative practice, I tailor each lesson to your individual goals, interests, and level of experience.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that every body has creative potential. I strive to create a supportive and engaging environment where students can build technical skills while also developing confidence, artistic expression, and a deeper connection to their bodies. I encourage curiosity, experimentation, and self-discovery alongside disciplined training and skill development.
