About Meghna

I am a final year law student at the University of Kent. Since my GCSEs, I have loved English, whether it be looking at how a writer uses language devices to convey a particular emotion, or looking at how the time period in which a text is written influences the how a text is written. I love creative writing and persuasive writing, especially looking at how to write speeches and convincing arguments. My ability to master these skills has meant that I am on track to graduate with a First Class degree (above 70%) in Law.
My enthusiasm to teach has largely been nurtured by my own teachers. I have been fortunate enough to be taught in very supportive, positive and collaborative environments where I have been able to reach out for help and seek guidance and feedback on my work, which has been a large factor in my academic success so far. I hope to create a similar environment for my students, as I know that students excel academically when they are in a supportive environment tailored to their learning style and needs.

About the lesson

I have 20 months of tutoring experience. I use a varied range of resources which include worksheets, quizzes and test students regularly to monitor their progress. Where appropriate I give homework tasks for students to complete. These tasks usually take no longer than 30 minutes for English and 1 hour for Law.
The typical lesson structure is as follows: 10 minutes at the beginning to introduce the lesson aims or recap key points from the previous lesson, 25-45 minutes of teaching on the chosen topic and then 10 minutes at the end to answer any questions, clarify any concepts and recap what has been taught.
With English, I am happy to work with pupils from ages 6-14 on reading, spelling, grammar, fiction and non-fiction writing, comprehension and essay writing. I can also support with completion of homework and preparing for any end of year or term time tests. Lessons will usually be 45 minutes to 1 hour.
With A level Law I can help students understand an perfect their approach to answering scenario and essay questions by looking at past papers, help them understand the required areas of law and key concepts so that they can confidently answer exam questions. I can also work on developing effective revision techniques to help retain the required information for their exams.
I am extremely flexible with my teaching style as I believe that everyone learns differently and will adapt my teaching style to suit my students learning needs as I believe that this helps create a more supportive and productive learning environment
