About Emily

My name is Emily!

I graduated cum laude from Gonzaga University (Go Zags!) in 2016 where I earned my degree in Environmental Studies and French language. While at Gonzaga I worked as a student athlete tutor in subjects like philosophy, algebra, and communications.

After University, I moved to Paris where I taught elementary school students English. I loved teaching and managing a classroom. My students mastered basic english grammar and vocabulary during my year with them. Additionally, living abroad was a life defining experience and I empower all students to take advantage of the opportunity to study or work abroad if they are presented with one!

When I returned from France, I worked in Environmental Organizing-- writing for the media, recruiting and interviewing interns, and meeting with Federal Legislators about climate legislation.

My passion for the environment led me to enrolling in law school, and I will graduate this May from Lewis & Clark Law in Oregon with a certificate in Environment and Natural Resources. Next year I have taken a job clerking for a Superior Court Judge in Alaska.

I have loved law school, but miss interfacing more directly with students and would love the chance to help students succeed!

About the lesson

I have taught english and tutored athletes prior to law school. In my sessions I like to get to know students-- where their passions lie, what excites them about school and learning and where they struggle.

Generally, my approach is aiding students in homework assignments and essays. We will figuring out what went wrong and what went right and the why behind both.

Writing is a muscle and requires practice-- along with some key pillars. Some of my favorites are 1) strong organization 2) writing with active voice 3) proofreading for impact 4) proof reading for grammar and spelling.

We will work on all 4 and anything else the student may require in our sessions together!
