Hi I'm Laura. I am passionate about ensuring everybody has access to a quality education, and have spent time volunteering abroad, teaching and working to boost access to education for disadvantaged children. I am currently studying for a masters degree in Sweden but am looking to continue with tutoring once more when I return to the UK in June this year.
Over the last few years I have built up various teaching experiences, including offering one to one tuition to KS3, GCSE and A-level students, tutoring at a tuition centre, and teaching primary and high school classes of up to 91 children in Ghana and Nepal! I have A Levels in Maths, Physics and Geography, graduated in 2016 with a first class Geography degree (covering both human and physical geography), and have tutored in all of these subjects from KS3 upwards.
I have also enjoyed helping numerous friends and family members to write their own personal statements, and am able to help with any stage of the Oxbridge admissions process including the TSA and interview preparation. I believe that everybody should have access to a quality education and whilst at University I volunteered as an Access Ambassador for my college; through this I gained further insight into key 'dos' and 'don'ts' in the admissions process and enjoyed advising potential applicants for a variety of subjects.
From my varied experience I have worked with children from the ages of 5 to 17, with a wide range of educational needs. I have therefore learnt to approach each student as an individual and aim to teach in the way that they can best learn, from simply building on what the student has learnt in class to increase their confidence, to approaching the topics in a whole new way. I have often found that developing a student's confidence is the single most effective way to help improve their grades and attitudes to learning and I genuinely enjoy seeing the progress that students can make when they gain this confidence in themselves.
