Kris is an accomplished musician, composer, and full-ride scholar at Berklee College of Music, where their artistic vision and technical proficiency have set them apart. Serving as president of the Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Vision Male Vocal Ensemble, and Concert Choir at Detroit School of the Arts, Kris has demonstrated exceptional leadership, inspiring peers and shaping the musical future of the next generation of artists.
A multi-talented artist, Kris’ diverse musical journey spans both performance and composition. They are currently working on their debut album, Saudade, which blends influences from jazz, classical, and contemporary music. This project showcases their skill as a composer, capturing their ability to write compelling, emotive music that resonates deeply with audiences. Kris’ composition style reflects their understanding of harmony, rhythm, and storytelling, infused with personal experience and a profound connection to their cultural roots.
In addition to their work as a composer, Kris has had the privilege of collaborating with industry legends such as Chaka Khan and Davóne Tines. These experiences have shaped their artistic development, allowing them to perform at the highest level and learn from some of the most revered figures in music. Kris has also performed with prestigious ensembles such as the Berklee Gospel BSI Ensemble and Berklee’s Mixed Pop & R&B Ensemble, where they refined their performance techniques and expanded their musical range.
Kris’ work spans a variety of genres, from classical to contemporary, jazz to pop, allowing them to approach music with a unique, eclectic perspective. So, in my lessons I would be teaching beginner to intermediate piano. We will study proper techniques as well the science behind it.You will learn about classical music history, specifically focusing on the composition styles of certain key composers throughout the development of classical music. I will also teach beginners to advanced music theory and sight reading!! I’m able to meet you at wherever you are. Lastly I will be teaching proper vocal techniques. Everything from your breathing, to your posture, to the placement of your tongue, and lastly to your choice of music and how to make any song fit your range and your character. Whether it be through changing the key or even the composition!!

He is a trustworthy teacher because he is very relatable to the children. Building relationships with students is based upon trust and respect. Two things that Kris has obtained by remembering the things that he needed as a student before.
Kris is patient, knowledgeable and has a great way of explaining music theory so that I could understand it. I would recommend Kris for your music theory lessons!!!
