Perfect! After twelve months of regular lessons, I can honestly say Azu-san is a phenomenal and skilled Japanese language teacher.

Prior to reaching out to Azu-san, I'd had sessions with various native speakers.

It made me realise that being a native speaker doesn't automatically qualify someone to teach — just as being a native English speaker doesn't mean I am qualified to teach English.

Azu-san prepares a structured plan for each lesson, but is always willing to pivot and adapt if I am struggling with something or have a lot of questions.

She creates a safe space to make mistakes, shows endless patience and encouragement and her lesson notes after each session helps immensely with my revision.

Azu-san makes learning a complex language a lot of fun and I'm excited to keep building my language skills with her guidance!

Perfect! Azu san asked to provide honest feedback since she wants to learn more and see where she can improve, so here are my thoughts about my first lesson with Azu san, straight up:

I woke up this morning feeling energetic and nervous at the same time. The lesson started and I was greeted by Azu san with a smile and a calm voice with a cool, easy English accent to understand which immediately helped me feel more relaxed. So I definitely recommend her, especially for people who tend to get really nervous. You will be able to feel relaxed. I also really liked the setting. It was modern and aesthetically pleasing which improved the quality of the learning environment.

We started with general conversation. I had the opportunity to learn more about her and share more about myself, my current learning goals, text books, occupations etc...

For practice she presented a white board that was prepared with an introduction to the three different Japanese writing systems which I thought was a good way to start the lesson. For one, it showed that took my request into consideration which shows she listens to her students requirements and secondly, she came prepared for the lesson which proves that she is organized and dedicated. For that I am grateful. Thank you Azu san.

After that we moved to saying amounts in Japanese. She made it easy to understand and pronounce.

Overall Azu san made a good first impression of herself. Personally from a student point of view I think it takes more than just one time to get comfortable with someone or to truly see their potential but she managed to do this in less than an hour.

I look forward to working with her. Over time I'll be able to provide more honest feedback.
