Hello!
Please consider me as your Math/Physics/Science tutor.
I am Janet Gargantiel, a graduate of Master of Arts in Mathematics Education. I have an undergraduate degree in BS in Civil Engineering and a Cambridge CELTA, a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults.
I have more than 25 years of teaching experience. I spent the recent 7 years of international teaching experience at Kaplan China, 2 years at The High School Affiliated to Renmin University, 1 year at Harrow Beijing International School and 4 years at TJ International Education, Beijing.
Presently, I teach and develop curriculum for Primary, Middle and High School Math, Science, and STEAM classes using the UK and IB Curriculum. I also teach IGCSE Physics and Maths, AP Statistics, Statistics and Probability, and Algebra and Trigonometry.
Prior to this, I taught Year 12 A Level Math, Year 10 IGCSE Math, and Year 7, 8, and 9 Math using the Key Stage 3 UK National Curriculum at Harrow Beijing International School. I have also taught US Advanced Placement (AP) Physics 1 and 2 at The High School Affiliated to Renmin University.
In previous years, I taught A Level Math and Physics at Kaplan China, Qingdao No. 2 Middle School, Qingdao City. In addition to my teaching job, I acted as the Head of the Department of Science overseeing the quality of science learning. I also worked as a contingent teacher of the US–Sino Pathways Program (USPP), a program managed by Northeastern University, USA to deliver credited freshman university courses such as Calculus, Statistics, and Chemistry.
In the same company, I taught Math and Physics for the International Foundation Year (IFY), the IB, IGCSE and A Level Equivalent Programs of the Northern Consortium of UK Universities (NCUK) to prepare the students for UK university studies. For a year, I was appointed as Academic Principal of Kaplan Changsha Center and tasked to supervise the quality of academic delivery. Parallel to this, I worked as a Subject Coordinator for Statistics and Calculus for 11 Kaplan schools all over China to coordinate syllabus delivery and assessments.
I focus my teaching style to using real life applications and multi-skills performance assessments. With these experiences, I certainly look forward to help further enhance students’ learning as a tutor.
I am very keen on guiding students to reach their potential. I have experiences of developing curriculum and training students for the American Math Competition (AMC), moderating and coaching student groups such as the Student Council, dance and chorale groups, debating team, and swimming team. Thus, I will be very glad to extend these experiences to guide you as your tutor.
Personally, I have love and respect for people and their unique qualities. I am a very good team worker, very patient and articulate.
