About Ben
I am a junior at George Washington University double majoring in Economics and Data Science. Math has always been my favorite subject, and I have excelled at it at a high level. In high school, I scored perfect in the math section of my SAT (800/800). I was one of the top students in both my AP Calculus BC and AP Statistics classes as a junior and scored a 5 on both exams. I was also one of the top students in both my linear algebra and calculus 3 classes as a senior.
In college, where I was required to retake statistics and calculus 2, I finished top 5 and top 2, respectively. The reason I mention all of this is because I believe any student can achieve these same results, or whatever results they aim for. Math is all about finding the strategies that work for the individual, and my aim is to use what I have learned over the years to give that to students.

I personalize lessons for any student I teach to make sure the lessons I give stick. I make practice problems to ensure that the student can work on examples as they learn each step of a new mathematical concept. My goal is to make sure the student doesn't just memorize rules and formulas, but instead develops a deeper understanding of how and why the math works so that it sticks with them forever.
I tend to start each lesson by seeing how the student is doing in their classes, and go over any questions the student has about their work. I then walk through a few examples, teaching them how to approach the problems so that I can understand the method that will work for them. I then have the student do some practice questions, and we go over them together to make sure the lessons are sticking. By the end of the lesson, I aim to ensure that the student will be fully prepared to answer any questions remotely similar to the ones they came into the session struggling with.
