About Serin
I’m a patient and structured tutor who focuses on making complex ideas feel clear and manageable. I understand that math can feel overwhelming, especially under exam pressure, so I aim to create a calm and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through problems at their own pace.
I recently went through these academic systems myself, so I’m able to explain concepts in a way that feels intuitive rather than overly technical. I focus not only on getting to the right answer, but on helping students understand how and why methods work, so they can apply them confidently in exams.

My mathematics lessons are focused on building a strong understanding while also improving exam performance. I begin by identifying gaps in a student’s knowledge, then explain key concepts clearly before working through exam-style questions together. A strong emphasis is placed on exam technique, as this is often what separates a good grade from a top grade in IB and GCSE mathematics.
I completed the IB Diploma in 2022 and achieved a 7 in Mathematics Analysis and Approaches HL. I will be graduating soon from Johns Hopkins University with a BSc in Applied Mathematics and Statistics. This allows me to support students with both the academic content and the strategies needed to perform well under exam conditions.
My lessons are best suited for IB (SL/HL), GCSE, and high school students who want to improve their grades and confidence. I particularly help students who already understand the basics but want to push their performance to the highest level.
I can also provide support with essay writing and university applications, helping students structure their ideas clearly and present them effectively.

Serin was my tutor in freshman year when I was taking Calc II and Linear Algebra. They were really good at explaining these complex topics and breaking problems down step by step. I especially appreciated how she focused on helping me understand the problems/concepts rather than just getting to the answer. I was able to get in A in both these classes, which I think was due to her help!! :)
Serin is an incredible tutor and explains every step carefully, even at higher levels of math where much of the work can be very complex. She makes it much easier to understand. I totally recommend her!
