I am a jazz saxophonist, with over twelve years of experience. Currently, I am a sophomore in college, minoring in music with a powerful passion for music, specifically using the alto saxophone.

About Max
I have participated in numerous state and nation wide concerts guaranteeing my seat through rigorous auditions and many, many hours of practice. I started when I was ten years old, under the guide of rebound classical saxophonist, Darlene Nevins, and have extended my interest from classical to jazz and blues. I play in a few bands now, mostly for fun and have been working non stop to improve and master my technique and find my own unique style.

I believe that music comes from the soul and should be enjoyable and fun. I like to engage the student and dive right in, beginning with the very basics, music theory, how to understand and read music fluently, and move on to the more refined aspects of the saxophone, such as tonguing, rhythm, embouchure placement, breath work. However, aside from the nitty gritty, I believe it is so important for the student to love what they play and how they play it. I love to give students the chance to work on the fundamentals using songs that they know and love, along with scales and finger workouts.
