About Rintaro
Hi everyone! I'm Rintaro. I was born and raised in Tokyo and moved to Canada 4 years ago. I am currently a university student, studying sociology and linguistics. I have experience teaching English in Japan and used to be a TA for the intermediate Japanese classes at my university. I love teaching my language and culture. It always makes me appreciate my country. I know learning a new language is hard, especially because of pronunciation, vocabulary, Keigo, etc., but I want to make your Japanese learning more fun!
I have lots of hobbies, such as watching soccer games, listening to music, especially 60s folk rock (Simon and Garfunkel is awesome, haha), and travelling, so we can always talk about anything when you get bored studying!

What I teach:
- Daily conversation
- Preparation for JLPT
- How to use Keigo (formal Japanese) properly
- Japanese characters (Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji)
- Gen Z slang
- Culture and custom
- Japanese History (Edo Period, Showa Era, etc.)
I can adapt my teaching style to fit each student’s learning preferences. Whether it’s anime lines or academic terms, I’m happy to help with any questions you have. Since I'm minoring in linguistics, I can help with not just vocabulary and idioms, but also grammar, including particles and Keigo (formal Japanese). Feel free to bring your own textbooks or study materials as well. My lessons are mainly based on your questions, so we can focus on what you want to work on.
