• 1) Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

  I speak Italian because of my origins, and because I love to promote and get know my language, culture and traditions.

• 2) Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

  Federico Fellini, movie director of "La Dolce Vita", one of the most beautiful Italian films that made the Trevi's Fountain known throughout the world.

• 3) Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

  I really like typical phrases like "Ciao bella" and "Mamma mia". They inspire me happiness and kindness at the same time.

• 4) Why does speaking this language matter to you?

  Because I am Italian and I do not want to loose my native language while I speak other languages. Also, it helped me to study Latin and other neo-Latin languages.

• 5) What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

  Irregular verbs and nouns are very difficult to learn, in my opinion practicing them five minutes every day will definitely help the process of learning. I always say to my students that learning a second language is like driving a car, the more you practice, the more you learn!

• 6) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

  The Mona Lisa, painted by Leonardo da Vinci, is one of the most famous paintings in the world. But what makes his smile so enigmatic? According to some studies, Mona Lisa's smile changes depending on the angle from which it is observed. This effect is due to the ombre technique used by Leonardo, which creates an optical illusion. Furthermore, recent research has suggested that smiling could be the result of a psychological trick called the "Mona Lisa effect," where the human brain tends to interpret facial expressions differently depending on the context.

• 7) How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

  I am a travel agent and tour operator director, so I traveled abroad, studied and work in different European languages. Italian still remains the most important language used for my business.
