About Francesca
I have recently completed a PhD (King's College London) in Classics, a field which has fascinated me since my first Latin lesson. My research attempts to draw connections between Greek lyric poetry and imperial rhetoric, and so far has proven an exciting and original. Before coming to the UK, I studied at Scuola Normale Superiore, a highly competitive centre for graduate study and research. Despite my education and research activity, however, I am no pedantic scholar, and I am extremely fond of teaching: for ten years now, I have been involved in teaching at various levels, both in higher education (KCL, UCL) and as a private tutor. I started tutoring in high school, when I helped some friends with revisions of Latin, Greek, History, and English. Apart from my knowledge of the subject, one of my strongest point is the enthusiasm with which I share my passion for Classics, languages, and history with my students. I have experience of teaching intensive language courses, and I consider myself an encouraging and effective teacher. Outside work, my passions include archaeology and art, so whenever I can I visit new exhibitions or travel. At home, I love reading, painting, and gardening.
