About Vraj
Hello! My name is Vraj, and I am a competitive chess player and dedicated chess coach with over 12 years of tournament experience. Chess has been a major part of my life for many years, and I have proudly represented my region at university, state, national and international level competitions, gaining deep practical knowledge of real tournament chess.
I have been fortunate to receive a Government of Gujarat Chess Scholarship, which recognized my performance and commitment to the game. Over the years, I have trained under experienced chess professionals worldwide, which has helped me develop a strong understanding of chess fundamentals, strategy, and modern competitive play.
As a coach, I am patient, friendly, and highly focused on student improvement. I believe chess is not only about learning moves, but also about developing powerful life skills such as concentration, discipline, decision-making, and confidence. My goal is to make lessons enjoyable while ensuring that every student progresses with a clear learning path.
Whether you are learning chess for the first time, aiming to improve your rating, or preparing for tournaments, I will guide you with structured lessons, practical training, and consistent feedback.

My chess lessons are designed to help students improve in a structured, enjoyable, and practical way whether you are a complete beginner or preparing for competitive tournaments.
With 12+ years of competitive chess experience, including participation at university, state, national and international level tournaments, I focus on building strong fundamentals first, and then developing advanced thinking skills such as calculation, positional understanding, and strategic planning. I have also been trained under experienced chess professionals worldwide, which has helped me develop a modern and effective teaching style.
♟️My Teaching Methodology
My coaching approach is highly personalized. Every student has different strengths and weaknesses, so I create lessons based on the student’s current level and goals. My sessions usually include:
Fundamentals (opening principles, tactics, checkmates, endgames)
Tactical training (forks, pins, skewers, combinations)
Strategy & positional understanding
Calculation and visualization training
Game analysis (mistakes, improvement areas, best moves)
Tournament preparation and mindset training
I also provide practice exercises and guidance on what to work on between sessions to ensure consistent progress.
Lesson Structure & Duration
A typical lesson is 60 minutes, but longer sessions (90 minutes) can also be arranged for advanced training or tournament preparation.
Lessons are well-structured and usually include:

Concept learning + examples
Practice through real game positions
Feedback and improvement plan
