I hold a degree in Industrial Design with qualification in Project of Product by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro UFRJ in 1993. Currently finishing a Masters Degree in Biomedical Engineering / Biomedical Instrumentation, at the Postgraduate Program of the University of Brasília - UnB.
I was Product Designer of the SARAH Network of Rehabilitation Hospitals - EquipHos Sector, from 1995 to 2016. I have more than twenty years of experience in the area of product design in Assistive Technology, developing products for rehabilitation, medical and hospital devices and furniture, devices as well as myoelectric and hand-held prostheses for the SARAH Hospitals Network.
I am a founder and freelance senior designer of: Micro Empresa VIDA DESIGN Ltda. - design and product design services: medical, hospital, prosthetics, assistive technology, rehabilitation and physiotherapy products, robotic devices, vehicles and equipment for the disabled, wheelchairs, miscellaneous products, consumer goods and industrial goods - February 2017, current.
I have training in surgical planning in a virtual 3D environment at CPMH Digital (February to April 2018), using Mimics / 3-matic (Medical & Research) and Dolphin software, which convert tomography images into editable three-dimensional pieces for orthognathic surgeries, spine surgeries and craniotomies, and for planning and making prosthetic limbs for the patient, anatomical three-dimensional segmentation and evaluation, biomodels, fixation plates, skull caps, cutting and positioning guides, as well as preparation for 3D printing or machining of plastic or titanium parts.
I have experience in designing, researching, and managing product design with skills in prototyping and manufacturing. I develop the project from client / patient needs assessment, in a multidisciplinary team, through brainstorming, creation and electronic simulation (SolidWorks), mockups, to technical detailing for prototyping and manufacturing.
I have technical knowledge of manufacturing processes in various materials and technologies including: plastic injection, rapid prototyping, vacuumcasting, vacuum-forming, aluminum casting, machining, welding, joinery and painting.
I have advanced knowledge in SolidWorks modeling program - SolidWorks as well as Mechanism Creation and Reverse Engineering skills.
I worked for two years as a Designer of aluminum alloy wheels, also designing its steel casting for aluminum casting, at the BW Brazilian Wheels Ind. & Com. Ltda - RJ - 1993 to 1995 factory.
I was a Trainee in Industrial Design at National Institute of Technology INT - RJ from 1989 to 1990.
I was a Designer and Partner of the Micro Company: JP Fernandes Ind. And Com. Of Biological and Laboratory Hospital Products and Devices - family microenterprise, for three years (1986 to 1989) in the development and commercialization of the products:
a) MEFI - Non-specific Multi-Fluorescence Eliminator - Invention Patent 1987. Apparatus for use in the laboratory of medical examinations that standardizes the indirect immunofluorescence technique;
b) Filter Centrifugal Immersion Pump for Aquaculture and Aquarium - Utility Model Patent 1986. Tested and validated by the Marine Biology Laboratory of UFRJ.
