About Lela
My name is Lela Zewdu, and I am a Third-year Senior Criminology major with double minors in International Affairs and Political Science at Howard University. I am currently working towards maintaining my 4.0, staying active in extracurricular obligations like the Ethiopian-Eritrean Student Association, and having fun during my last year! I am also obtaining my Paralegal Certification within the next couple of months.
Since middle school, I've always loved tutoring. My undergraduate experience fostered this passion various ways. During my first year, I tutored elementary students in St. Louis, Missouri, for a week. This summer, I also tutored incarcerated youth at my local youth Detention Center. Education and understanding are important tools that liberate students, and I would be honored to bridge the gap between students and empowerment.

I've had tutoring experience with various kinds of students, including middle school students in standard school settings and incarcerated students. These experiences have taught me that education meets different people in various ways. Tutoring is an empowering resource that reclaims the idea of misunderstanding a concept to dependency that grows into self-help models. We start with what the student knows about the subject and attempt to fill the gaps using evidence-based questioning. This style strengthens students' ability to trust themselves and problem-solve. I am excited to work with students who are ready to learn! No worries, I meet you at your educational placement. We work together to improve our understanding!
