About Alexandra

¡Hola! My nombre is Alexandra Glazkova de Serrato, and according to my university degree I'm a linguist, but in my heart I am and I always have been a passionate language teacher.

I graduated from National Research University Higher School of Economics in Moscow with a degree in Linguistics and Intercultural Communication. During my time in university, I had the chance to do a student exchange programme in Puebla, Mexico, and I loved it so much that after my graduation I bought the first tickets back to Puebla and it's been about 2 years that I'm living and teaching here.

Actually, Puebla is where it all started for me as a teacher. As my prácticas profesionales in 2017, I designed, developed and successfully taught a Russian language course for Spanish speakers in Spanish (and Russian). Upon returning to my country, I started digging into different teaching methods and learning everything I could about teaching as it converted into my passion. Oh, and by the way, I came back not only with muchas ganas de enseñar rusoinglésespañol a todo el mundo, but also with a surprisingly fluent level of Spanish. I managed to get from 0 to approximately B2 by simply being immersed into the Spanish-speaking environment. And as a linguist, I didn't just take it for granted. As a linguist I knew what the research says about immersion as a method of language learning (spoiler alert: it doesn't say anything good), so I started polishing and working on my Spanish to reach the one and only C2.

In 2018, I started working at a language school in Moscow, teaching Spanish and English, and had the opportunity to work with different types of students, with different objectives, backgrounds and levels. It opened my perspective even more and gave me enough knowledge and experience to pass successfully the Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test exam with the highest score (BAND 4).

Apart from my mother tongue, I also speak English and French fluently so I understand the process of learning a new language and the most frequent difficulties that native speakers of English, Russian or French might have with the Spanish language.

As I mentioned before, currently I live in Mexico. I work at a Mexican Logistics company as a language teacher, everyday I get to use the Spanish language and I love it. ¡And I want to share my pasión por la lengua y la Spanish-speaking cultura with you!

If you have any question o duda, don't hesitate to ask me via messages. Looking forward to hearing from you!

¡Híjole! I'm a convinced follower of the communicative method.

¿Qué es eso? Well, it means that when teaching I give priority to the real communicative situations, real and everyday language and learning grammar and vocabulary in the context of the hispanohablante culture. And it goes without saying that I prioritize *el resultado*, so during our first session we will talk about your learning/thinking style and your goals to elaborate a strategy that will help us to achieve them.

If you'd like to understand better my methods, I share with you the main concepts according to which I will be planning our classes (should you have any duda, message me):
• Learner-centred teaching
• Classroom freedom
• Task-based learning
• Real language environment
• Gamification
• Personalized learning
• Differentiated instruction

¿Entonces por qué yo? So why you should choose me to be your Spanish tutor?
+ I already took this whole journey from 0 to fluency and I know and understand how it feels and how to make the most of it
+ courses customized to your goals and adapted to your learning style
+ extensive teaching experience
+ a degree in linguistics which implies a good command of the theoretical aspects of the language
+ international language and teaching certificates
+ all materials included
+ availability and schedule flexibility
+ fluent speaker of the language

¡Espero verte pronto en nuestra primera clase!
Looking forward to our first session!
