I have been a learner myself for a while now & believe that learning is best done by experiencing (or say practical).
I usually start the classes with some assignments to first asses the experience level and then try to provide personalized resources.
I don't focus to give all the theoretical & practical knowledge which will go obsolete in a few years (as computer science is ever-evolving), rather I focus on showing you the direction in which you can start exploring technologies yourself and ultimately become a lifelong learner.
