About Dr Alex
I was awarded my PhD in Medieval Italian History from UCL. This followed my MA in Medieval and Renaissance Studies also at UCL and my BA in Modern and Medieval Languages at the University of Cambridge. I was awarded Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in June 2021.
I've been teaching since 2014, working with undergraduate and postgraduate students at university as well as with secondary school students from Y8-Y13. I have taught History, Liberal Studies, English, Science and Technology Studies, and study skills to students, from one-on-one sessions to large lectures.

I'm an experienced teacher and I really enjoy helping students to become more confident in expressing their ideas, and in writing them down in an academic style. I'm an engaging, passionate and enthusiastic teacher with ten years of experience working with a variety of students.
I'm particularly experienced in helping students develop their essay skills, working from the essay question through to interpreting and building on feedback from teachers.
I'm happy to teach GCSE, A Level, and University Level students.
I can also offer university preparation, from application to interview practice.
