About Toby
As one of Britain's leading young concert cellists I have a wealth of experience performing as both a soloist and as the cellist of an award winning international string quartet. I trained for 8 years at the Guildhall school of Music and Drama in London, completing my bachelors degree as well as my masters degree and artist diploma. I have been teaching now for over ten years both privately and for establishments including Purcell School chamber music academy and Royal Birmingham Conservatoire as an associate artist.

I believe that every student is different and therefore tailor all my lessons around the individuals desires and goals. Whether this be short term exams, longer term ambitions to play professionally, or simply to just enjoy playing. When playing the cello, or any instrument, we should feel free and confident to express what we want to say and ultimately feel joy and have lots of fun! I use a variety of well established systems which I have learnt from many great teachers and cellists, to put in place a solid and reliable technical base for students to allow you to maximize the enjoyment of playing.
