About Tanya
I am a qualified actuary with over 11 years of experience in the insurance industry, working across different geographies. I completed my undergraduate degree in Mathematics Honours from one of the top colleges in India and graduated with distinction. I later qualified as an actuary through the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, UK.
But I was not always a “maths person”. Until my second-last year of school, Maths genuinely scared me. Then my mother found me an excellent Maths tutor who changed everything. He explained concepts in a way that finally made sense, helped me build confidence, and turned Maths from my weakest subject into one I could genuinely excel in.
That experience stayed with me.
My aim through this platform is to give students the same kind of support: to help them move from confused to confident, step by step.
I believe doing well in an exam is not only about intelligence. It is also about structure, strategy, planning, and knowing exactly where to focus your effort. Over the years, through school, university, professional actuarial exams, and my career, I have learned how to identify weak areas, build on strengths, understand exam requirements, and focus preparation around the marks that matter most.
This is the same practical approach I bring to my tutoring.
My goal is not only to help students understand Maths better, but also to help them feel more prepared, more confident, and more in control when it matters most.

Each lesson is tailored to the student’s level, target grade, and weak areas. Some students struggle with the actual Maths. Others understand the topic but lose marks because of exam wording, poor layout, timing, or small mistakes. My first job is to identify exactly where the difficulty is coming from. Then we fix it with simple explanations, guided examples, and focused past paper practice.
My lessons usually include:
Clear topic explanation in simple language
Step-by-step worked examples
Leaving Cert past paper questions
Exam technique and marking scheme awareness
Mistake correction and improvement points
Homework or practice questions after each session
Confidence-building through structure and repetition
A typical lesson is 60 minutes. For students preparing for mocks, final exams, or more challenging topics, 75-minute sessions can also be arranged.
My lessons are best suited for 5th and 6th year students preparing for Higher Level Leaving Cert Maths, especially students who:
feel overwhelmed or underconfident in Maths
understand topics in class but struggle with exam questions
want to improve before mocks or the Leaving Cert
need a more structured weekly study routine
want to improve accuracy, timing, and exam technique
are aiming for stronger, more consistent results.
My goal is to give students structure, clarity, accountability, and confidence. I want each student to finish a lesson feeling that Maths is no longer something mysterious or intimidating, but something they can approach with a clear method.
