About Sonoma
Hi! I’m Sonoma, a dedicated IB student currently studying at a top U.S. boarding school. I’ve completed my GCSEs, taken two AP courses, and have a strong academic background across humanities and sciences. Outside the classroom, I’ve completed two medical volunteering internships abroad and a neurology internship with the University of Sydney. I tutor students in Years 2–8 in English, Math, Science, and History. My goal is to help students not just understand the material, but feel genuinely confident and capable. I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to suit how they think best—whether that’s through examples, visuals, discussion, or step-by-step practice. I’ve previously worked with primary-aged children in group settings through a domestic violence shelter, which taught me the importance of patience, empathy, and adaptability in teaching. I bring that same supportive and encouraging approach to all my sessions. Above all, I want students to feel heard, supported, and never afraid to ask a question. My lessons are online, flexible, and focused on building real understanding—not just cramming for the next test.

Hi! I’m Sonoma, a high school student with a strong academic record and a passion for teaching. I offer online tutoring for students in Years 2–8, covering English, Math, Science, and History. I’ve previously tutored primary-aged children through a domestic violence shelter, which helped me learn how to adapt to different learning needs and create a supportive, patient environment—whether a student needs a confidence boost or help mastering tricky topics. How I Teach: My lessons are friendly and flexible, focused on building understanding rather than just memorizing answers. I break concepts down into manageable steps, use examples that actually make sense to the student, and keep things engaging with questions, mini games, or visuals when needed. Lesson Details: Lessons usually run for 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the student’s age, attention span, and schedule. I’m always happy to adjust based on what works best. Who It’s For: My tutoring is ideal for primary and early high school students (roughly ages 7–14) who need: A bit of extra help with classwork or homework A safe space to ask questions and build confidence Support while preparing for tests or catching up on missed content I genuinely care about helping students feel smart, supported, and proud of what they can do.
