As a high school senior currently excelling in Calculus BC with a track record of perfect 5s on all AP Math exams, I don't just teach math and science, I teach the "student's perspective" on how to master them. My approach is built on the reality of the modern classroom, focusing on the specific tricks and conceptual shortcuts that lead to top grades.
Teaching Methods & Techniques
The "First Principles" Strategy: We never just memorize formulas. I explain the why behind a concept (like why the Derivative Power Rule works) so you can derive it yourself if you forget it during a test.
Active Recall & Scaffolding: I use the I Do, We Do, You Do method. I demonstrate a problem, we solve the next one together, and then you tackle a challenge solo while I provide "just-in-time" hints.
The AP "Insider" Lens: Having recently sat for these exams, I teach you how to spot "trap" questions and how to format your work to earn maximum partial credit from graders.
A Typical Lesson Plan (60 Minutes)
The Pulse Check (5 min): Reviewing homework roadblocks or upcoming test topics to prioritize our time.
Concept Deep-Dive (15 min): A visual breakdown of the day's core topic (e.g., Understanding Normal Distribution in Statistics or Stoichiometry in Science).
