About Laura
I have tutored hundreds of students grade 2 thru 12 over the past 22 years. Also taught in the class room. My students love coming to tutoring, and I consistantly turn Fs into Bs and C/D's into As. Dozens of reference letters available. Very rewarding to help a kid who hates math and feels defeated become a kid who is so proud of him/herself and no longer is intimidated by math.

My teaching methods are very straight forward. I watch a child work to assess aptitude and skills, then instruct in very simplistic terms so that it is logical. I teach a kid "why", not just have them memorize a bunch of random steps that make no sense to them and that they won't retain. I teach them how to work independently, and talk themselves through problems using a simple set of questions that will lead them to the right answer. I keep it lighthearted and very positive. My parents consistently tell me their children ASK to come each week for tutoring.
