About Chris
I graduated from Colgan High School in Manassas, VA with an advanced diploma in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts with a Vocal Concentration (CFPA Voice). This fall, I will attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, seeking a Bachelor of Science in Music, majoring in Music Performance and Music of Game Design. I have performed in various honors choirs, including the Prince William County All-County Honors Choir in 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022. I have performed in the Virginia District IX All-District Honors Choir in 2020, 2021, and 2022. I performed in the 2022 Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) Senior Honors Choir Conference, and the Honors Performance Series High School Carnegie Hall Honors Choir in 2022, and hope to perform in the Young Adults Honors Choir in 2024. I have assisted with my youth community choir, Excelsior Voices, since January 2022, as well as performed in their youth choir meanwhile. I took two years of piano in high school and one year of music theory, and have been practicing the instrument since graduating in June 2023. Since November of 2022, I have been tutoring my 10-year-old little sister in piano, with resounding success. In my high school and community choirs, I have led sectional practices for both Alto 2 and Tenor 1 voices, with notable success in both. On occasion, I have helped to lead my TB High School Choir in class when other student leaders were unavailable, including learning and practicing pieces during assessment season. In the 11th grade, I directed a small chamber ensemble during a pre-show for our winter concert, as part of a project for CFPA Voice.

While I do not have a typical lesson plan, I begin lessons by understanding the student's current skill level and experience, and moving from there, cataloging what was done in each lesson in order to continue on from there for the next lesson. In every lesson, there will be basics and fundamentals taught as needed to the student to prepare them for content they may want to learn, such as songs they want to play or sing, and applicable techniques for said content. Students may provide their own content to learn or may request content from the teacher (within budget or other limitations) with which the teacher will provide content to the student. Lessons are provided virtually to beginner students ages 10-15, in the Northern Virginia area, with seasonal in-person lessons, and in Troy, NY.
