I’m currently studying Optometry at the University of Canberra. My best subjects were Maths Advanced (Overall mark of 96/100) and English Extension (external mark of 47/50). I also achieved a band 6 in Biology, Chemistry (External mark of 93/100), Japanese Continuers (External mark of 92/100) and a band 5 in English Advanced (Internal mark of 92/100). My ATAR of 97.30 means I’m in the top 2.7% of students in NSW.

What makes me stand out.

What makes me stand out most however is that I know the value of personal improvement. I did not attend tuition until year 11, and I am the first to pursue university within my family. In addition, I didn’t start studying English until I was 10 years old. My Year 11 marks were slightly above average. Even despite all the odds, I learned how to use the resources given to me most effectively to achieve a mark that reflects my best effort. This is clearly shown in how my marks for every single subject improved over the course of year 12 to what it is at the culmination of HSC.
What I cannot provide is all of the tuition a tutor has received over 6 years compacted into 3 months for their student. That is impossible, and blatantly false advertising. What I can provide however is the skillset, knowledge and resilience that will enable you to beat the odds despite wherever you are, and also the most improvement within the shortest period of time. I do this through focusing on the student, and allowing them to decide what they focus on for the lesson. This works for 2 reasons:
1. Reminds you that improving has to come from inside, and there is no magical pill for it and
2. Encourages a growth mindset, where you are responsible for your failures and also your successes too.

Student-focused teaching style

My teaching style hence focuses on the Pareto Principle, where 80% of the value comes from 20% of the work. We will focus on quality past papers, your past assignment feedback, building your own resources for subjects and a system for guaranteed reduction in silly mistakes. This is an extremely valuable skill that will not only last you through high school, but also to uni and throughout life. It also means that learning with me is very personalized, and not just me feeding the student whatever resource works for me, as everyone’s learning style is different.
If you want efficient learning built around you with the tricks to enable quick improvement, I believe I will be a good match for you.
