Hello! I tutor math for students from Kindergarten all the way through 8th grade. My approach is powerful because I'm a student myself, so I was taught these concepts and understand exactly where things can get confusing. I make math make sense because I remember struggling with the same problems!
My core goal is building confidence by ensuring true conceptual understanding for all students.
I teach using the "See It, Draw It, Solve It" progression. We start by having the student see the math; using counters, blocks, or drawings before we ever touch a symbol. Then we draw it, and finally, we solve it with numbers. I promote productive struggle; I don't give answers, but ask specific questions to help students find the solution themselves. When mistakes happen, we treat them as clues and use error analysis to find and fix the exact misunderstanding together.
A typical lesson is structured around the "I Do, We Do, You Do" model, followed by the student explaining the main idea in their own words. What makes my tutoring unique is my ability to diagnose foundational gaps across grades—if a 7th grader struggles with decimals, I look back to their 4th-grade place value to build a rock-solid foundation. My lessons are for any K-8 student who needs a boost, wants to get ahead, or simply wants math to click, and I always connect topics to real-world context to make learning engaging.
