About Deirdre
I am a head of Mathematics in a local secondary school and have been for the last 10 years. I have been teaching maths for 18 years up to GCSE level. I have experience with both the Edexcel and AQA exam boards. I was an exam marker with Edexcel for a number of years which gave me great knowledge and skills on exam techniques and practice, which I pass on to students. I have a degree and professional diploma in teaching from University College Dublin. I have a masters in Education Management and a professional qualification in Senior Leadership.
I have 18 years experience teaching Maths up to GCSE level. I have taught all ability ranges but pride myself on my success rates of pupils achieving a pass grade and above when they previously had been failing in the subject. I have been a tutor for over 10 years and have also tutored primary school children understand difficult concepts, completed their homework with them and also prepared pupils for 11 plus and other entrance exams along with KS3 and KS4 pupils.

I first assess the student on their ability and discuss with them what they want to achieve. I tailor all the work covered dependent on age and ability of the student. I support pupils with their performance in the classroom but also on their examination skills and techniques to help the maximise their marks in exams. I try and make pupils feel at ease through my friendly and patient manner. I help pupils feel confident about their maths and their own ability and encourage a “ can do “ approach.
