About John
I have over a decade of experience as a secondary school teacher, teaching mathematics at both GCSE and A-level standard. As a current teacher, I am able to advise on those areas where common mistakes are made in examinations and how to use examination techniques to pick up the most marks.
My teaching experience ensures that I am very familiar with the current specification 9 to 1 Maths GCSE both at Higher and Foundation levels and can guide students in the areas they will need to focus on for these exams.
I am also able to tutor students who require support for KS2 SATS and the Common Entrance exams.
My experience covers teaching and tutoring students of a wide variety of ability levels and I am used to making students feel relaxed and comfortable studying the subject at their level.

My tutoring style is a calm and structured approach to mathematics to allow my students to gain confidence in those topics they currently find difficult. I am very patient and encourage students when they are successful. I provide students with the opportunity to practice their new-found skills whilst receiving feedback on their approach.
