I have been teaching since 1992 when I gained a Bachelor of Education with Honours from The University of Nottingham, specialising in Biological Science and Computing. From 2001 to 2016 I worked in a successful Prep School in Derbyshire, firstly as a class teacher, then as Head of Curriculum and Learning and, for the last seven years, as Deputy Headmaster. Throughout this time I prepared pupils to sit the 11+ Common Entrance examinations and entrance examinations for a wide range of Independent Secondary Schools. I achieved a 100% success rate with every pupil securing a place at their first choice school for the last sixteen years. I focus on Maths, English, Science, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. I have also prepared pupils for National Tests.
I am a very patient and enthusiastic teacher who believes in providing engaging lessons to ensure understanding. I believe in developing a positive approach to learning together with a rigour to embed knowledge and understanding. I am continually developing my experience using technology to enhance the learning experience of my pupils.
