About Dr Fawaz
About Me
I teach Artificial Intelligence where theory meets real-world results.
I’m an applied AI technologist with over 25 years of experience across research, higher education, and industry delivery.
My work sits at the point where AI moves beyond experimentation and must deliver real value using real data and real constraints.
I hold a PhD in Computer Science, have published 45+ peer-reviewed research papers, and delivered 300+ international talks on AI, data engineering, and emerging technologies.
I have also been recognised globally as a Most Active Speaker (2023, 2024, and 2025).
My teaching focuses on understanding concepts deeply and applying them effectively, rather than simply following tutorials or copying code.
My Personal Story
When I first began working in AI, the field looked very different from today.
Computing power was limited, tools were immature, and progress required a deep understanding of algorithms, mathematics, and data systems.
Over the years I worked across:
• AI research
• distributed systems
• large-scale data platforms
• applied machine learning in industry
During that journey I noticed a common challenge:
Many people learn AI through tools without understanding the foundations.
This often leads to frustration when projects become more complex.
My goal as a mentor is to help students build both understanding and practical ability, so they can confidently work with AI rather than simply experimenting with it.
