  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

In the International Baccalaureate program in my high school, I exceled in biology and chemistry, leading me to undertake my BSc in Biochemistry at Concordia University in Montréal, Québec, Canada. The love of the study of the functioning of any type of lifeform in the universe, from the molecular level to the complete view of the organism, and the environment from which it came from and continuously interacts with and adapts to, I came to be enthralled with an incredible realm of scientific depth and understanding. I consider the study of life, in particular human life, to be one of the most interesting and developing fields of scientific understanding and knowledge acquisition of recent times, possessing an ever-quickly advancing frontier into our future.
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

The passions for the subjects I teach, I will distinguish amongst them.

Biochemistry: Understanding the functioning of life leads to so many opportunities in so many domains. After all, it basically requires knowledge of all of the natural sciences combined to have a nearly endless variety of multidisciplinary paths to explore and understand how we live in addition to how we could live.

Chemistry: Everything that has mass, basically, is a combination of atoms and molecules, so understanding chemistry helps us to understand how to interact with and make use of our environment. Humans could, with light humour, be regarded as being walking, talking, chemical reactions.

Biology: Understanding the foundations of living things, in the broader sense of how we progress through time and life, helps us to also understand how to do this more optimally, including improvements in health-care and other public and private sectors.

Physics: One of the main reasons I am passionate about physics is due to its uses in engineering and other technological developments. When we understand what we are dealing with, we understand what we could do to use it to our advantage. And who doesn't like the technological advances in cellphone technology? Well that could be an open-ended question.

Mathematics: Having a solid grasp of mathematics allows us to solidify theories in physics and all of the natural sciences. Mathematics can be compared to a tool such as a shovel, which is used to justify physics. Without the shovel, physics would just be ideas without confirmation. Also the patterns in mathematics are very beautiful, and everything can be assigned a number in this universe. Quantification is a key identifier in nearly all aspects of life.

Chess: I love chess because it's a game that challenges you in ways you can only find out through playing it.The patterns and strategies are fascinating, and it's an experience that two people have together, and can only have together, so there is revealed a deep aspect of human socialization and mutual development.

Guitar: Playing guitar, apart from the love of music which naturally stimulates our brains' creativity centers, is one of my passions because it allows me to be free to express myself in whichever way I would like to, without hindrances or limitations. It helps me identify with myself and allows me to be me.

Languages: I grew up learning a certain dialect of English, and then learned a certain dialect of French. Living in Montréal, both languages are prominent, and one of my favorite aspects of linguistics is when we speak Frenglish, basically a combination of English and French which has its own taste.
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

The main driving force behind my advances in tutoring all stem from the ultimate purpose of helping students reach their full potential, succeed in their academic goals, and ensure a smoother and less stressful pathway to achieve their objectives in academia and in life. I find teaching very gratifying and helping others succeed and learn is one of the best ways that I can return the gifts society gave me.
  • Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

I do in fact have three significant role models which I would like to mention herein.

    1. One remarkable person who inspired me to better grasp my abilities to learn and teach is one of my biology professors at Concordia University. When he is asked a question by a student, he without a doubt, provides an introduction, a discussion, and a conclusion about the topic the student asked. His ability to frame and ground his discourse was truly generous of him, he always took more time than the norm to help others, and he is one of the most polite and kind individuals I have ever encountered.

    2. Another hero of mine is one of my chemistry professors at Concordia University. The breadth and depth of his knowledge was fascinating and truly commendable. He always has time for students to come to his office to converse and better understand what to focus on and his incredibly wise mind seems to have never-ending quantities of knowledge about vast and expansive topics in chemistry and other scientific fields.

    3. Someone who I'll never forget, who I'll always be grateful for knowing, and who has always supported me in the right ways, is my best friend who I had the opportunity of knowing in high school. Every day, he was present in total optimism, positivity, and whenever times were tough, he always found a way to make the best of the situation, when most people didn't have the energy to persist, my friend shared his.
  • What are your keys to success?

My keychain, so to speak, to success, includes a few different types of metaphorical keys.

    1. Focusing on the relevant steps to succeed. The most important key for me would be to aim for a goal and this is how I maintain the progress in the right direction, and learn what I must do to stay on this path.

    2. Attributing value to the journey. If we follow the perspective of placing value on the journey towards success, this develops neural reward networks that allow the brain to learn and maintain what is learned, as recent neurological science has proven. If we only place value on the goal, the brain will not function nearly as optimally as if we value each new piece of information we learn that is relevant to attaining our goal.

    3. Work ethic. Without the discipline and putting in the hours to obtain the relevant knowledge and skills we need to develop, we will simply be lacking the requirements needed to attain our goal. They say you learn the most when you are spending time with yourself while working out solutions to the problems along the path towards success.

4.Be optimistic and open-minded. You can only learn if you listen, and then filter information into what is pertinent to achieving success. You never know what you can learn, and from which source that is at your disposal.

    5. Being socially adept. Humans are social being, and without each other's help, we would simply not be able to achieve progress. Everyone has something to offer, and when we work together, we succeed together.
