With 21 years of professional teaching and performance experience, I hold a Doctorate in Contemporary Guitar Performance and Music Theory. My doctoral research focused on advanced harmonic language in modern guitar composition, improvisational cognition, and pedagogical innovation for developing elite-level performers.

My guitar lessons are comprehensively structured to develop refined technical control, stylistic versatility, and confident musical expression. At the beginning of our work together, I conduct a detailed performance evaluation that assesses posture alignment, hand synchronisation, finger independence, pick control, fretboard navigation fluency, rhythmic stability, tonal consistency, and improvisational awareness. This initial diagnostic process enables me to construct a highly personalised development plan designed to strengthen foundational technique while accelerating advanced musical growth.
Foundational sessions focus intensively on clean chord transitions, precise alternate picking, scale integration across multiple positions, rhythmic subdivision mastery, and tone shaping awareness. I emphasise the biomechanics of efficient movement, teaching students how subtle adjustments in wrist angle, finger pressure, and pick articulation dramatically improve clarity, endurance, and speed. Practice strategies are analytical and structured, ensuring progress is both measurable and sustainable without unnecessary physical strain.
As students advance, we explore extended chord voicings, harmonic substitutions, modal improvisation systems, genre-specific stylistic interpretation, and compositional creativity. Ear training exercises refine pitch accuracy and chord recognition, while improvisational frameworks develop confident musical storytelling grounded in theoretical understanding. Performance preparation includes simulated live sessions, stage positioning guidance, audience engagement training, and mental conditioning techniques to enhance composure under pressure. My goal is to cultivate guitarists who demonstrate technical precision, artistic individuality, and commanding stage presence across diverse musical settings.
