About June
My journey as a guitar tutor began with a deep love for music and an interest in both classical and contemporary guitar styles. I earned a B.Mus in Guitar Performance followed by an M.Mus in Contemporary Music, which provided a strong foundation in both performance and pedagogy. Over the past 10 years, I have taught learners of all ages and abilities, guiding them to develop technical proficiency, musical interpretation, and performance confidence.
I approach teaching with patience, encouragement, and individualized attention, ensuring each student’s goals, learning pace, and unique style are addressed. Lessons combine structured exercises, repertoire study, improvisation, and performance practice to develop both skill and enjoyment. I emphasize reflection, self-assessment, and goal-setting, helping learners become independent, confident, and expressive musicians.
Beyond teaching, I actively perform, compose, and collaborate with other musicians, bringing real-world experience into my lessons. Witnessing students develop technical skill, expressive artistry, and confidence is immensely rewarding. Supporting learners in cultivating their own musical voice and lifelong engagement with the guitar remains the most fulfilling aspect of my work.

My guitar lessons are designed to help learners develop solid technique, musicality, and performance confidence. I focus on fingerstyle, chord shapes, scales, phrasing, tone production, improvisation, and expressive interpretation. Lessons are interactive and tailored to each student’s level, incorporating technical exercises, repertoire, improvisation, and musical creativity. I encourage students to explore their individual style, experiment with sounds, and build both technical and expressive confidence, making learning engaging and rewarding.
As students progress, lessons advance into complex fingerstyle patterns, advanced soloing, composition, music theory application, and performance preparation. I provide reflective exercises for students to analyze tone, phrasing, and stylistic expression while integrating improvisation and ensemble playing. Lessons aim to nurture creativity, versatility, and musical independence, ensuring learners can confidently tackle new challenges and continue growing outside of lessons.
Guitar lessons also foster discipline, patience, focus, and artistic expression. Many students experience improved problem-solving, creativity, and self-confidence through consistent practice and performance. My goal is to guide learners toward mastering technical skills while cultivating a personal artistic voice, inspiring a lifelong love for the guitar and music in general.
