About Chad
I am a guitar tutor with 8 years of experience and a B.Mus in Guitar Performance along with an M.Mus in Contemporary Music. I specialize in helping students achieve technical mastery, artistic expression, and performance readiness. My teaching covers all levels, from beginners building foundational skills to advanced students preparing for recitals, composition, or ensemble performances. I use a combination of structured exercises, repertoire practice, improvisation, and performance coaching to support growth and creative exploration. Lessons are personalized to each learner’s goals and abilities. Beginners focus on chord shapes, strumming, and basic melodies. Intermediate learners enhance technique, musical interpretation, and improvisational skills. Advanced learners refine soloing, composition, and performance preparation. Feedback is continuous and constructive, helping students gain confidence, independence, and musical awareness. Lessons balance technical skill with artistic expression and enjoyment. Outside teaching, I engage in performance, composition, and contemporary music studies. I mentor students through gigs, school events, and creative projects. Teaching guitar allows me to witness learners grow in skill, creativity, and confidence. My goal is to help students develop a strong musical foundation, expressive capability, and the joy of playing guitar at any level.

Guitar lessons are most effective when students combine technical proficiency with creativity and musical expression. My lessons focus on chord progressions, scales, fingerstyle techniques, improvisation, solo phrasing, rhythm, and stage performance. Beginners develop chord shapes, basic strumming, and simple melodies while cultivating rhythm and accuracy. Intermediate learners refine scale fluency, finger dexterity, stylistic interpretation, and improvisation skills. Advanced learners focus on advanced soloing, composition, tone shaping, and live performance preparation. Lessons integrate play-along practice, exercises, creative exploration, and constructive feedback to ensure continuous growth and confidence. I encourage learners to explore their unique musical voice, combining structured technique with expressive freedom. Each session balances discipline, fun, and creativity, supporting steady improvement.
Lesson planning adapts to individual skill levels and goals. Beginners focus on foundational techniques, chord transitions, and simple repertoire. Intermediate learners advance with fingerstyle, music theory application, and expressive phrasing. Advanced learners refine performance readiness, solo interpretation, and compositional creativity. Exercises include real-time guidance, interactive practice, and problem-solving strategies to overcome challenges. Constructive feedback fosters confidence, skill retention, and musical awareness. Lessons are designed to nurture technical mastery, stylistic versatility, and artistic exploration. Students gradually develop independence, expressive ability, and enjoyment in playing the guitar.
Over time, learners gain technical fluency, improvisational creativity, and performance confidence. They develop musical memory, rhythmic awareness, harmonic understanding, and stylistic versatility. Lessons cultivate self-discipline, patience, and expressive freedom, enabling learners to perform solo, in ensembles, or creatively compose. I aim to nurture guitarists who combine skill, artistry, and joy in their playing, fostering a lifelong connection to music while building confidence and competence at every stage.
