About Gemma
With 11 years of teaching experience and a Master of Music in Guitar Performance, I have committed my career to guiding students toward disciplined and inspired musicianship. My academic studies provided extensive training in solo repertoire, ensemble collaboration, advanced harmony, and performance psychology. These experiences shaped my belief that technical mastery must support artistic authenticity.
I believe effective instruction requires adaptability and patient guidance. Every student approaches music differently, and I take time to understand their goals, strengths, and challenges. By breaking advanced concepts into structured, manageable steps, I ensure consistent progress without overwhelming the learner. Ear training exercises help students recognize harmonic movement and respond confidently in live playing situations. I incorporate guided improvisation sessions to build spontaneity while maintaining structural awareness. Lessons also include practice planning methods so independent study remains focused and productive. My approach blends theoretical understanding with hands-on experimentation for well-rounded growth.
Performance preparation is treated as an essential skill. We simulate stage conditions, refine expressive nuance, and practice audience engagement techniques. Students learn mental focus strategies to manage nerves and deliver confident performances.
