About Rob
I began playing the keyboard at 2 years old, and began to study the electric guitar when I was 12. I then picked up bass when I was 19. I perform regularly, and am always learning. I listen to and enjoy playing all kinds of music, from the keyboard works of J.S. Bach, to the solo guitar playing of Joe Pass, to the heavier rock and metal of bands like Metallica.

My name is Rob and I teach guitar, bass and keyboards either at your own home or online. I achieved grade 8 in electric guitar from RSL in 2006; studied a diploma at the ACM in Guildford; Graduated with a BA (hons) from the OU; and am currently studying music education at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. I have taught many students of all ages through graded exams (including RSL, Trinity and ABRSM exams). Lessons can range in length from 30 minutes to two hours. Building on from the standard master-student approach of many tutors, my pedagogy is often student-led, focusing on developing intrinsic motivation and self-efficacy. However, I am always conscious of the idea that music is also a creative activity and a form of play, even when entering students for formal assessments such as graded exams! Even when studying for specific exams, I maintain a broad musical curriculum, aiming to foster creativity and enjoyment, hopefully producing well-rounded musicians who are always playing to have fun!
