About Sonia
I enjoy my family and the great outdoors. I still work in business but I also offer tutoring since I see there is a need in the UK for young people to learn a second language. I can help with my knowledge and experience. An additional language allows people to see things in a different light and is an area of education that is currently under-resourced in the UK.

I am a highly experienced linguist and tutor with a joint honours degree in French and German from Durham University and over 25 years’ experience in communication and language use across Europe. Educated at the French Lycée in London and half Austrian, I speak both French and German at near-native level and bring a deep cultural as well as linguistic understanding to my teaching.
I work with students who want to do more than just get through exams. My focus is on building real confidence, precision of expression, and ease with the language — whether for GCSE, A-level or long-term fluency.
As a mother of a teenager currently in the UK school system, I understand exactly what is required and how to get the best out of each student. I adapt quickly to different personalities and learning styles, helping students become capable and independent in their thinking.
Lessons are structured but dynamic, combining grammar, conversation and exam technique where needed. I aim to make students sharper, more confident, and genuinely comfortable using the language.
Based in New Malden / Kingston area. I offer in-person lessons locally and online if preferred.
