Lesson Breakdown (40 min total) 0 – 5 min – Warm-Up / Diagnostic Quick chat: ask what topics they struggle with most (percentages, graphs, algebra, elasticity, etc.). Short 2-question quiz to gauge level (for example: calculate simple interest, find gradient from data points). 5 – 20 min – Core Topic (choose one per session) Option A: Percentages, Ratios & Compound Growth – use examples like savings interest, inflation, or business revenue growth. Option B: Graphs & Functions – link to demand/supply curves and marginal analysis. Option C: Statistics & Data Interpretation – teach how to read real financial charts or exam data sets. Method: Explain → show worked example → let them attempt → correct live. Keep problems relevant (“A company increases prices by 5% each year; find revenue after 3 years”). 20 – 35 min – Applied Practice 3–4 exam-style questions based on today’s topic. Walk through time-saving methods and how to structure answers for marks. Show how calculators / spreadsheets can speed up checking. 35 – 40 min – Recap & Homework Review one key formula or concept. Assign 2 short questions for next session. Ask for feedback: “What felt easy / what confused you?” End with motivational takeaway (“Maths is logic, not memory — we’ll build your formula muscle week by week.”)
