About Jinyi
Hi, I am Jinyi. Born and raised in Beijing, I speak standard Mandarin and observed Chinese society and culture immersively for 18 years. (In fact, the advanced Chinese course I am teaching at Duke University is called exactly "Chinese Society and Culture".) If you want to learn not only the language but also the culture, I will provide you with the most first handed resource.
If you are a beginner, in my course, you don't have to take the risk of miscommunication to learn from a native Chinese speaker.
Received both of my bachelor's (Binghamton SUNY) and master's (Duke) degrees in the states, I can communicate with you swimmingly in English.
Studying literature and cultural studies for years, I am confident I can convey to you the most subtle aspects of both the Chinese language and culture.
