Practice! Practice! Practice! Like any skill, the more you practice it, the better you will get. Mistakes and ambiguity are part of the learning process. They help guide instruction.
My lessons begin with a warm up activity. This can range to tapping into prior knowledge or a pre-evaluation. This is followed by activities to help facilitate learning new content and practicing historical skills (analyzing, evaluating, making connections). Lastly, students will have the opportunity to assess their current level of understanding. This data will then be used to guide instruction.
