About Duncan
I love mathematics. It is a fascinating and rich subject area. My passion for mathematics started in High School and this passion expanded during my undergraduate degree. My love for teaching is based on this passion. I want to share my passion for mathematics with pupils and inspire them to pursue mathematics to their heart's content. I am highly qualified, studying pure mathematics for the past 5 years. I know the gems of mathematics and how to cultivate mathematical ideas. I am very punctual, preparing appropriate materials for the lesson. However, respecting the pupil's need for intellectual curiosity. Together, we will explore mathematics to give you confidence across the vast subject.

My methodology can be broken down throughout the structure of the lesson. First, we will review previous problems for praise and criticism. Then we will focus on a few problems for the majority of the lesson. I will break these down into the underlying theory required, regularly asking for feedback to check understanding. I will provide a model to tackle these problems utilising this explained theory and then use this in an example. Finally, we will talk through a problem together and then I will allow them to work on a problem themselves. I will implore them to complete the problems directly after the lesson while the ideas are fresh. The lesson will be 1 hour long. I have taught GCSE mathematics in a Secondary School. Lessons are for any pupils that are working towards a (further) mathematics GCSE or Scottish National 5 up to and including a (further) mathematics A level or Scottish Advanced Higher.
