About Hannah
I’ve been a daycare teacher, tutor, editor, volunteer at the children’s library at my college, babysitter, volunteer at a children’s museum, editor of a newspaper, staff member of a newspaper, and current literary merchandising editor for a bookseller’s catalog. If anyone can inspire someone to read/write, it’s me!

I have worked with ages 2-12 in the past.
I am the biggest advocate for reading—so if I can help a student gain a new perspective on its importance, I’ve done my job.
We will go through homework together. If there is an assigned reading, I will read the book, as well. I like to have the assignments ahead of time so I can do them, as well, before our lesson.
As for essays, I will have the student read it aloud to me first before peer editing. Reading aloud will allow the student to hear their own mistakes. From there, I will gently edit, and give suggestions that can strengthen the student’s writing without entirely changing it. I have a combined four years of editing experience.
If the student is willing, or if extra reading time is recommended for growth, I will assign a weekly reading that is appropriate for the student’s reading level. I will be reading the book alongside the student, and from there, will cultivate weekly discussion questions to be completed before the next session. Once again, I believe in the power of reading, so I’d like the student to have the final say on the book we’ll be reading together so it’s enjoyable for both ends.
