About Massimo

I have the education and experience you look for when seeking a music theory or piano instructor. I have a California Teaching Credential from this year. I also have a bachelor's and Master's degree from the New England Conservatory of Music which has one the most challenging music theory programs in the nation.
As far as my professional experience, I have tutored colleagues on music theory and I worked at a private music academy teaching piano and trumpet called Key Notes School of Music.

Teaching Method and Techniques:

Step-by-Step Learning: I break down complex musical concepts into simpler, understandable parts.

Practical Examples: I use familiar songs or melodies to illustrate theoretical concepts.

Engaging Activities: I incorporate interactive activities like rhythm games or listening exercises.

Visual Aids: I might use visuals like diagrams or charts to explain musical structures.

Typical Lesson Plan:

Basic Concepts: Starting with the fundamentals—notes, rhythms, and how they're written.

Scales and Chords: Explaining scales (like do-re-mi) and how they form the building blocks for melodies and harmonies.

Rhythm and Timing: Understanding beat, tempo, and how they shape music.

Listening and Analysis: Listening to music together and identifying these concepts in the music.

Practical Application: Trying out these concepts on an instrument or through singing.

What Sets Me Apart:
I strive to make music theory enjoyable and relatable. I focus on making connections between theory and actual music, helping students see how theory enhances their musical understanding and creativity. I adapt lessons to match individual learning styles and pace.

Who the Lessons Are For:
These lessons cater to beginners or anyone curious about understanding how music works. Whether someone's learning an instrument or simply interested in comprehending music better, these sessions aim to demystify music theory. The lessons are adaptable, fitting various ages and levels of musical experience. They can be adjusted based on whether someone wants a basic understanding or needs more advanced concepts for professional purposes or exams.
