I am a master’s graduate in linguistics from the University of York and currently a researcher in linguistics. I also hold a postgraduate diploma in applied linguistics from the University of Birmingham. I speak several languages including French and Russian. For English as a foreign language, I use a lexical approach, which focuses on high-frequency chunks of language that aid the development of oral fluency and comprehension. I place a lot of emphasis on listening skills using a method known as listening decoding which trains you to better understand natural speech.
