About Chelsey
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and I will graduate from the Thesis track with my Master of Arts in Communication studies with an emphasis in education in December of 2026. Due to my experience in higher education both as a student and as a Graduate Assistant in the Communication department, I am an expert in qualitative and quantitative data collection and research. I have been teaching 8th grade science in the Amarillo Independent School District for two years. I am in the end stages of completing my licensing requirements to teach 4-8 science. I currently hold an intern certificate and will receive my full certification in December of 2026.

As an educator, I utilize the inquiry-based 5E learning model to allow students to move from passive learners to active scientists in the classroom. In my lessons, learning starts with a real-world stimulus. I encourage students to look closely, ask questions, and build directly upon their prior knowledge to explain the phenomenon in front of them. By connecting advanced science concepts to everyday life, I aim to show students that science isn't just about memorizing facts for a state exam. My goal is to empower students with the critical thinking skills they need to make informed decisions as they grow.
