About Helen
I am currently studying a Master of Science in Experimental and Clinical Linguistics. I worked in regulation for two years and found myself missing the opportunity to work with people. My long-term goal is to become a lecturer and researcher after completing a PhD. In the meantime, I love teaching! Tutoring also allows me to keep up to date with the realities of students' lives, which I hope will make me a better lecturer in the future.

I am an experienced tutor who is happy to adapt to your personal learning style. I believe in focusing on the needs of my students and am happy to prepare learning plans which may be adapted on the day as needed. I have experience working with students with learning disabilities and neurodivergences as well as personal experience studying with ADHD. I do not use AI to create lesson plans; I will always personalise your lessons myself.
I am happy to work with students who want to focus on particular subjects, but I also have experience working with students who want to improve their grades in a variety of subjects. For many of my students, we focus not only on subject-specific learning but also on study skills to help my students tackle other difficult subjects in the future.
Lessons can be any length, but I advise around 1-2 hours for most students. I teach law, linguistics, French, and maths (including statistics for BA subjects) as well as related subjects from early high school up to undergraduate level. I can also teach chemistry, history and English up to NCEA Level 3 as well as biology, classics and German up to NCEA Level 2.
